Hand Surgery
Hand surgery addresses both trauma and degenerative disease with major advances in awake surgery. The session covers wide-awake local anaesthesia no tourniquet (WALANT), peripheral nerve repair, carpal tunnel surgery (endoscopic vs open), cubital tunnel surgery, basal joint arthritis management (Mini-TightRope, suspensionplasty), congenital hand anomalies (syndactyly, polydactyly), and replantation indications. Discussion addresses Dupuytren's disease treatment (collagenase, needle aponeurotomy, open surgery), distal radius fracture management, acute vs delayed nerve repair, ulnar collateral ligament repair, workforce-development pipeline, and emerging biological scaffolds in nerve repair.
