Ophthalmic Surgery
Ophthalmic surgery is largely outpatient with high-volume techniques and rapid technological evolution. The session covers cataract surgery innovations (femtosecond laser-assisted, premium IOLs including multifocal, EDOF, Light Adjustable Lens), MIGS for glaucoma (iStent inject, Hydrus, XEN, OMNI), vitreoretinal surgery (small-gauge 27G), corneal cross-linking and corneal transplants (DMEK, DSAEK), paediatric strabismus surgery, and oculoplastics. Discussion addresses phacoemulsification vs femtosecond, retinal detachment repair (scleral buckle vs vitrectomy vs pneumatic retinopexy), AMD interventional therapy, paediatric congenital cataract, and Luxturna gene therapy intersection.
